Mercedes-Benz Canada recognized as a Great Place to Work®

Mercedes-Benz Canada is pleased to announce that it has been recognized as one of this year's Best Workplaces in Canada.

Success breeds success. Mercedes-Benz Canada has been the Top Luxury Manufacturer for the last three years. Not only did Mercedes-Benz Canada's employees work extremely hard to achieve this coveted position, it has instilled a tremendous amount of pride within the organization, which has in turn generated a huge amount of positive energy in the company's environment and culture.

From the distribution of a diversity calendar every month to celebrating milestone achievements as a group, from compelling car lease programs to delighting our internal and external customers by going the extra mile, Mercedes-Benz Canada employees have embarked on a new journey of Best Customer Experience that surpasses the industry norms. The results of this quick yet highly effective transformation have been felt and applied in all of the company's departments across the country.

Mercedes-Benz Canada concurrently introduced several new cross-country initiatives to further empower its employees. A strong focus was put on improving overall communication and ensuring that employees clearly understood the company's goals and direction. In addition, a very effective program was launched to facilitate manager-to-employee and peer-to-peer recognition, and wholesale employees worked in retail environments to understand first-hand what it takes to deliver a Best Customer Experience.

Mercedes-Benz Canada Director, Human Resources, Nicole Poncelet said: "Mercedes-Benz has always been a wonderful place to work. However, we have seen a remarkable shift in employee engagement over the course of the last 15 months. The arrival of our new President and CEO, along with new members of our senior leadership team, has served as a catalyst for cultural change. As we introduced new programs, we noticed a growing and palpable energy in the organization. To further build on this positive momentum, we contacted Great Place to Work® to assist us in garnering additional critical insight."  She added, "Great Place to Work® helped us to channel this information back into the organization and also have employees help us generate short- and long-term ideas, which will positively impact their work environment and their overall employee experience."

"Having worked in other organizations where Great Place to Work® was already implemented, I knew when I first joined Mercedes-Benz Canada in May 2016 that the overall employee attitude and the tangible passion present in this organization could be strong supporting factors for a Great Place to Work® nomination," said Brian D. Fulton, President and CEO of Mercedes-Benz Canada. "Together, we have successfully introduced many important programs and initiatives that have made it an even better place for all of us to come to work at every day. I am extremely proud that our Mercedes-Benz Canada colleagues are happy to be employed here. I am equally delighted that we were able to earn a respectable spot on the 'Best Workplaces in Canada' list in our first year."

This list of "Best Workplaces in Canada" is compiled by Great Place to Work® Institute Canada. The competition process is based on two criteria: two-thirds of the total score comes from a 58-statement survey completed by a random selection of employees, along with their open-ended comments about their organization; the remaining one-third of the score comes from an in-depth review of the organization's culture, including an evaluation of HR policies and procedures.

This offers a rigorous representation of the organization from an employee perspective, and an overall portrait of the workplace culture. Together, they provide crucial data relative to the five trust-building dimensions of a great place to work®: credibility, respect, fairness, pride, and camaraderie.
This year's list received over 400 nominations and over 60,000 employees participated in the 2017 "Best Workplaces in Canada" survey.
