Mercedes-Benz Canada reports Q2 2023 sales results

Mercedes-Benz Canada and its national dealer network today announced Q2 2023 sales results. In Q2 2023, the company retailed 9,077 passenger vehicles and vans. This number included 555 all-electric vehicles representing a 67% increase in all-electric vehicle sales compared to the previous quarter (Q1 2023), setting a new benchmark for EV sales.

In Q2 2023, Mercedes-Benz Canada retailed 7,539 passenger cars and luxury light trucks. This total included 5,449 SUVs (72% of total sales) and 2,090 passenger cars (28% of total sales).

The GLE SUV continued to resonate with Canadian consumers leading in overall Q2 2023 volume with 1,603 total units retailed (SUV and Coupe combined), followed closely by the GLC SUV with 1,555 total units retailed (SUV and Coupe combined). The growth leader in the segment was the G-Class; the icon remains as popular as ever with Canadians (+2050.0% compared to Q2 2022 / overall +82.4% year-to-date sales compared to the first half of 2022). Other growth leaders in the SUV segment were the compact GLA SUV (+25.5% compared to Q2 2022) and the rugged yet refined GLB SUV (+13.7% compared to Q2 2022). On the passenger car side, consumers continued to be excited by the all-new C-Class (sedan, coupe & cabriolet), which led all passenger cars with 672 units retailed (+148.9% compared to Q2 2022 / +155% year-to-date compared to the first half of 2022). Another top performer was the CLA Coupe (+55.7% compared to Q2 2022 / +83.9% year-to-date compared to the first half of 2022).

In Q2 2023, Mercedes-Benz Canada set a new quarterly sales record for all-electric retailing 555 all-electric vehicles, led by the all-electric SUVs in the portfolio: EQE SUV (207 units), EQB (137 units), and EQS (120 units). Sales in the all-electric segment are expected to continue to grow throughout the year as additional inventory enters the Canadian market.

In Q2 2023, Mercedes-Benz Canada's Pre-Owned division delivered 3,854 total pre-owned units (+8% compared to Q2 2022). Of those total sales 3,752 were certified pre-owned (CPO) units (+9.8% compared to Q2 2022), for a Q2 2023 CPO penetration rate of 97.3%.

Mercedes-Benz Vans Canada retailed 1,538 units overall in Q2 2023 (+0.8% compared to Q2 2022), including 1,457 Sprinter vans and 81 Metris vans.
