  • Mercedes-Benz is investing significantly to improve charging infrastructure for North American drivers. Additionally, all 58 Mercedes-Benz locations in Canada have invested to enhance charging infrastructure, adding 787 Level 2 and Level 3 chargers across the country.

Mercedes-Benz Canada and its national dealer network today announced Q1 2024 sales results. In Q1 2024, the company retailed 7,632 passenger vehicles and vans (-2.5% compared to Q1 2023). This number included 5,924 passenger cars and luxury light trucks, and 1,708 Vans.

The number of SUVs sold in Q1 2024 was up 4.1% compared to Q1 2023, led by the GLC SUV (1,636 units retailed) and GLE SUV (1,589 units retailed). The EQB SUV was the overall growth leader in the SUV segment (+38.2% compared to Q1 2023). The EQB SUV also led the way for all-electric sales in Q1 (188 units retailed), followed by the EQE SUV (81 units retailed), and the EQS SUV (64 units retailed).

On the passenger car side, the C-Class continued to lead in overall sales volume with 441 units retailed in Q1 2024. The growth leaders in the segment were the EQE Sedan (+137.0% compared to Q1 2023), CLS four-door coupe (+60.0% compared to Q1 2023), and E-Class (+21.0% compared to Q1 2023).

"As we continue our journey toward becoming the world's most desirable electric brand, our approach is to offer Canadians a variety of attractive options - whether it's body-style or engine variant - so they can select the vehicle that is most suitable for their mobility needs. As part of our sustainable business strategy, we will continue to introduce desirable low emissions vehicles, with all-electric and plug-in hybrid options for our customers. As more Canadians experience the luxurious, technologically advanced, driving performance of these electric vehicles, I am confident they will be convinced of the benefits of electric mobility," says Andreas Tetzloff, CEO, Mercedes-Benz Canada.

To support a transition to electric mobility, Mercedes-Benz dealers across Canada have contributed significantly to Canada's charging infrastructure. Across 58 Canadian Mercedes-Benz locations, 88 Level 3 High Power chargers have been added (including 30 offering 100 kW+ charging), along with 699 Level 2 chargers and 422 Level 2 ports. These dealer infrastructure investments are additional to other recently announced initiatives to build out North American charging infrastructure, such as the creation of a Mercedes-Benz high-power charging network, which by 2027 will offer a network of more than 400 hubs across North America with more than 2,500 high-power chargers, and IONNA, a joint venture between Mercedes-Benz and six other OEMs, to develop a new, high-powered charging network with at least 30,000 chargers across North America, with the first stations scheduled to open this summer.

In Q1 2024, Mercedes-Benz Canada's Pre-Owned division delivered 3,078 certified pre-owned (CPO) units.

Mercedes-Benz Vans Canada retailed 1,708 units overall in Q1 2024 (+4.0% compared to Q1 2023), including 1,230 Sprinter vans and 478 Metris vans.
