Mercedes-Benz and smart Canada provide easy on-line access to rescue services information

Toronto – Safety for vehicle occupants has always been a top priority at Mercedes-Benz. Unfortunately, accidents can still occur despite advanced and intelligent vehicle designs.  Modern safety engineering and state-of-the art materials can at times become an obstacle when trying to free drivers and/or passengers trapped inside an accident vehicle. Mercedes-Benz Canada is proud to offer a series of guidelines for rescue services.

These guidelines show the firefighters, rescue crews or paramedics how to quickly gain access to the interior of all Mercedes-Benz and smart vehicles without injuring themselves or the people trapped inside.  Step-by-step instructions illustrate for example how jammed doors can be opened or a badly dented roof can be removed.

Components such as airbags, batteries, fuel tanks present an additional hazard if they are damaged in the accident.  The guidelines show rescue crews exactly where these systems are located in Mercedes-Benz and smart vehicles, and how to work with and around them.  Instructions are presented in the form of a detailed, easy to follow checklist.

The guidelines for rescue services for Mercedes-Benz and smart vehicles are available in English and French, free of charge, as easy-to-download PDF documents at:
