Mercedes-Benz Canada appoints new Vice President, Network, Training and Process Development

Mercedes-Benz Canada is pleased to announce that Fang (Freda) Wang will be the company's new Vice President, Network, Training and Process Development effective March 1st, 2019. She will be taking over the position from Hannu Ylanko, who will be retiring at the end of March 2019 following a thirty-year career with the company. Wang is currently the Director of Marketing at China's Beijing Mercedes-Benz Sales Service Co., Ltd. (BMBS).

Originally from Beijing, Wang was educated at York University's Schulich School of Business as well as at Stanford University. Her extensive work experience in Canada, the United Arab Emirates, and China has included CSI (Customer Satisfaction Index) programs and retail consulting, as well as the development of targeted dealership consulting programs.

Freda first joined the Daimler family in 2010, starting out with Mercedes-Benz (China), Ltd., before being promoted to Director of After-Sales Retail Operations at BMBS in 2012. In 2013, she was appointed to her current position, where she has been responsible for developing the Mercedes-Benz, Mercedes-AMG, Mercedes-Maybach and smart brands in the Chinese market. Freda has been recognized for her role in making the company the most popular automotive brand in China. Under her leadership, BMBS has delivered benchmark marketing communication campaigns, customer experience and product events, and has become a leader in global marketing innovations.

"In recent years, Mercedes-Benz Canada has seen unprecedented results and we are working hard to take the necessary steps to maintain that momentum and continue to deliver top-quality products and customer experiences," says Brian D. Fulton, President and CEO, Mercedes-Benz Canada. "Vital to these efforts is ensuring we have the right leadership in place, and Freda certainly fits that requirement. Her background in retail consulting, operations and marketing – not to mention experience in our largest market – is sure to stand her in good stead in this new role and will be a real asset to the company."

"I am really looking forward to coming back to Canada, working with a team that has a reputation for being so passionate and engaged, and becoming better acquainted with the country's luxury automotive marketplace," says Wang. "This is a time of significant change and potential for Mercedes-Benz Canada and I am excited to begin working with my new colleagues to make the most of every opportunity."
